Why Window Films are Important
According to the US Department of Health and Human Services and to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) one in every five people will develop some from of skin cancer within their lifetime. Unfortunately, skin cancer is the most rapidly growing form of cancer in the United States. However, we need the suns radiation to sustain life on the Earth. The suns UV rays are vital for both plant and animal life, yet certain portions of the suns radiation can cause harm. The suns ultraviolet radiation (UV rays) is divided into three groups of wavelengths, UVC, UVB, and UVA. However, due to the absorption in the Earth's atmospheric layer, 99% of the UV radiation, which reaches the Earth's surface, is in the form of UVA (380315 nm). Approximately, 90% of the light above 350nm can pass through ordinary window glass. However, with the continuous breakdown of the ozone layer, a greater amount of dangerous UV radiation will reach the Earths surface. For years, doctors have been warning us to apply sunscreen use sunglasses and hats to reduce our risk of developing premature aging and even skin cancers. Yet, because glass does not screen UVA rays, many of us are unprotected driving in our cars, and even sitting near windows in our homes. Several manufactures of window films use technologies that have produced ultraviolet protective films. These unique window films protect against 99.9% ultraviolet UVA and UVB. Most of these films are sold and professionally installed by manufacturer trained window film dealers who can assist you in selecting the best window films to meet your needs and protect you against the suns harmful rays.
