Creating Your Own Faux Stained-Glass Window

How would you like to create the look of a stained glass window, on an existing window in your home, using adhesive film and stick-on lead? Dont think you can do itsure, you can, and its simple.

First, youll need to gather the following materials: Window Rubbing alcohol Any pattern on paper (A childs coloring book provide some simple patterns for beginners.) Tape Stick-on lead strips Cutting tool Burnishing tool Self-adhesive, colored film (available at most craft stores)

Simple Steps:

First, clean the window with rubbing alcohol. Tape your pattern to the outside of the window. With both hands, apply the sick-on lead strips to the glass, making sure to carefully outline the pattern. Once you have applied the stick-on lead, press the lead onto the glass. With the use of a cutting tool, carefully cut each end of the lead, making sure that you do not scratch the glass. To give he pieces of lead a welded-joint look, use a burnishing tool on the lead intersections, or you can use the edge of a hair comb. Spray the surface of the glass with water and a colored sheet of film, then apply the film to the glass surface opposite the lead. With a cutting tool, carefully cut the film, and then hide the cut edge along the lead lines. Remove the extra film, and allow the film adhered to the window to dry for an hour. Place a second layer of lead on this side to give the impression of stained glass.
