Benefits of Window Films
Window films offer several benefits including reflecting heat back to its source. In the production of window films, several metals are adhered onto the thin polyester films. Various amounts of different types of metal are applied to the films in order to achieve various heat blocking performance levels, which allows you to choose the specific film you need. Special adhesives that are factory applied to attach the films to the glass, do not distort any of the visible light, but does provide UV protection. However, the films have to be chemically treated so that the UV radiation doesn't breakdown or discolor the films. If the films are not treated, they will yellow and become brittle. Another great benefit of window films is that they will slow down but not prevent the fading process. This is because approximately 40% of all fading is due to UV radiation, with the remaining being attributed to visible light, heat, and air pollution. Vinyl and cloth seats, and carpets will continue to fade, however, with window films they will do so at a slower rate. Though many people feel that they can do-it-themselves, window film installation is not a do-it-yourself project if you want a professional look. In addition, prior to the installation of the window film, the glass must be professionally cleaned for the film to appear invisible after installation and all bubbles, wrinkles, and other blemishes must be removed. This can be extremely difficult for an untrained person. The truth of this is the many vehicles, which are on the road whose window films are filled with bubbles, wrinkles, cracks and gaps. These blemishes distract from the vehicles overall appearance. Many window film installations only cost between $5 and $10 per square foot to be professionally installed yet they can save you hundreds of dollars on your energy bills. As well as reduce the amount of fading on upholstery and the interior of your vehicle, which can translate into an increased trade-in value on your vehicle.
